Last month saw the opening of independent UK electrical retailer Bennett’s open its first tax-free shop at Norwich international airport. The shop offers a pre-order and pick-up service for local travellers including large goods like refrigerators.
The outlet offers a wide range of electrical goods, including memory cards, digital cameras, camcorders and satellite navigation systems.
The group’s trade sales manager went on record saying that they have a close partnership with Norwich airport and have lots of advertising space at the check-in area, and when this opportunity for expansion presented itself they took it.
The new Bennett’s outlet is part of a wider programme of terminal improvements, which has seen £15m ($22m) spent on upgrading the airport since 2004. A £5 ($7.3m) airport development fund fee levied on each departing passenger has funded the improvements. Norwich airport handled 417,000 passengers last year.
Established in 1991, Norwich-based Bennett’s operates 14 outlets across England and Wales as well as an online retail service.
The Norwich International Airport is located 4 miles north of Norwich city center and is accessible by the A11 motorway from the Southwest, A47 from the East or West, and A140 from the Northeast.
The airport offers short stay and long stay car parking options. The short stay car park is just opposite the terminal building for quick and convenient access while the Long stay car park is a short walk from the terminal. This facility can be pre booked to online or by phone on 0845 050 7080.
